Name of creator
Reva Helen Lyne was born on August 4, 1906, at Oak Hill, Kansas, to Lillie Akerman Lyne and Thomas Lyne. She attended Kansas State Agricultural College in Manhattan, Kansas, from 1924 to 1928, graduating with an undergraduate degree in home economics. She married Paul Wilfred Russell in 1934. Paul died in Salina, Kansas, on November 3, 1979. Reva died in Salina, Kansas, on July 18, 2000. Both are buried in the Mount Liberty Cemetery in Oak Hill.

Scope and content
This collection is primarily made up of records, programs, and correspondence between Reva Helen Lyne and various athletic programs and schools across Kansas during her involvement with Kansas State Women's Athletic Association (KSWAA) at Kansas State Agricultural College between 1923 and 1928. These letters mainly discuss plans for Central Sectional KSWAA conferences, information about selecting and receiving a shield for the Association, and other notes from WAA meetings about specific sports and student athletic records (track and field, basketball, etc.). Photographs from her childhood, college years, and wedding to Paul Russell are also included, as well as a diary from 1925 and her funeral service program from 2000.

It received accession number 2015-16.027, and was given to us from the Historic Textile and Costume Museum. The donor had sent the materials with textiles to the museum before officially donating to the archives.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling information
Acquired because it documents the life of a former Kansas State Women's Athletic Association president, including the Association's early history, as well as women's athletics at K-State during the 1920s and student life and culture of the era.
